Look out for "Spencer", in the New Feature Film "Nine Shades of Pleasant" where Yul Spencer plays a badass villian "Luis". It's a cool independent joint I did with Moon Racer Prod. It should pop at some film festivals before it goes to cable or dvd. I've been real busy producing film and television these days. I've taken a leave of absence from stand-up, but I am planning on putting a pod cast on my site so I can keep my funny out there. My folks can go to my site and click on to hear what the fuck I'm joking about now. I just haven't had the time to hit the clubs, but I don't want to stop telling jokes and I never will.
Chillin' between shooting. "Nine Shades of Pleasant"

Got News:
Yul Spencer has just shot a sketch comedy pilot, "The DeRay Way" for Comedy Central starring DeRay Davis where he puts all his real life events into a comedy explanation, "keeping it real". There's no airdate yet, but plans to be a special show. Yul Spencer played the role of "Chill" his ex-boss on the streets back home in Chicago, where Mr. Davis is from. "Chill" is an ex-hustler following DeRay's movements and successes looking for a thanks from the new founded star. If it wasn't for "Chill" he figures, DeRay wouldn't be who is. You'll have to watch out for the show to get the details. This show has plenty of surprises and hilarious bits to keep you laughing long.
Yul Spencer is still waiting to hear back from the "The Shield" producers telling him when he will work again there. After the role of "Tyrez 'Spank' Wallace," everyone's expecting the return of that character to the show. Yul says so is he. If you didn't catch the 5 th season finale of "The Shield," it will air again many times in reruns before the 6 th and final 7 th season.
performance reel:
The Marvin Gaye movie "What's Goin' On" is still in preproduction. Yul is expected to play the role of the late great "Richard Pryor." There has been some confusion about which Marvin Gaye movie will be done first. Yul says, "This ain't the one with Jesse L. White. He was supposed to do this one, but he's chosen to do another one." "What's Goin' On" was written by a closer source of the Gaye family.
Turns
out that our usual reporter, the Beautiful Lauren
L. Spencer has to take some time off for finals.
She’s got to pass and she’s got to
go to college. So, she ain’t got much time
for Daddy right now, but she will be back to report
in the New Year. She appreciates all of your wonderful
comments about her first article about her dad.
Some of you said it was the thing you enjoyed
the most on his website, spencerworld.net, which
is now “SPENCERWORLDWIDE.COM". It's
bigger, brighter, and better. Plus dot.com is
easier to remember. Lauren wants you to check
it out and buy something. Hahahahah. Don’t
be funny she’s serious. She’s going
to college this year and she’s goin' with
some money, lol.
Well,
no news has been good news for Spencer. After
the releases of about 3 films this last year,
“Still Bout It,” “Superspy,”
and "Decisions," Spencer is geared up
for several more movies in this New Year 2005.
He’s slated for “Superspy II”
with a major studio, also has been chosen to play
an icon character, within a movie this year, (there’s
a confidentiality agreement concerning this project)
and he’s not talking much about it.
I asked
him about his projects with Master P, is he going
to do anymore, he told me that they are all on
hold at this time, that P’ was MIA, “He’s
just a real busy dude. P’ is busy keeping
his family rich." Spencer spouts out. "I’m
just grateful he took sometime out to put me down
a few times. I’m sure we will see each other
again soon Love ya P'".
The
Movie “Still Bout It” has sold over
250,000 copies and is making Pimpin Melvin a household
name. “That’s cool. I’m glad
it’s doing well. I have created “The
Adventures of Pimpin El,” (4 Fun and 4 Money).
Same character, except more cleaned up, and on
one adventure after another. "Pimpin El’
goes to Hollywood” “Pimpin El’
goes to Chunky Cheese (It’s your Birthday)"
etc. The character has many points and observations
to make about living on this planet, and plans
to express himself .
I’m
sure the adventures will be very funny, you folks
out there, look out for the series, on dvd,"
Spencer states.
What
about BET? We haven’t seen you on the new
show, “There’s a new show?" Spencer
laughs. "I haven’t seen it. I don’t
know about them (BET). I just thought it was time
to move on. They weren’t concerned with
blowing me up. I kept hearing my comedy was to
smart for the show. I didn’t believe that.
So, many fans come up to me telling me how funny
the shit is (his comedy). Sometimes, I just don't
believe they understand how smart "Black
America" is. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful
to them and for the exposure they have given me.
Now, let’s move on."
While
we're on the subject, (not really) turns out that
there is a script that is so funny the studio
people don’t knowwhat to do with it. "Well,
they know what to do there just trying to get
Dave Chappelle to do it," Spencer says. Spencer
has written along with scribe and partner, Danita
Jones, a thought provoking and Hilarious script
entitled “Pimps Anonymous," “It’s
in the voice of Chappelle. It’s true he
is the perfect lead actor for the role. The only
actor I would really want to see play this, (other
than myself) and Don Cheadle, a great actor like
him stepping into this comedic role, that would
be da bomb."
"Pimps
Anonymous," fondly known as P.A., begins
it’s journey, in Oakland, Spencers’
hometown. Silky Slim, a witness to a murder is
made to testify on behalf of the police, or strike
out and go to prison. P.A, is designed for pimps
to adapt to civilian life. It’s a process
and it’s a funny one. "That’s
all I’m going to tell you," Spencer
boasts.
Spencer
is writing on several real projects with scribe
and partner and is looking forward to them being
up on the big screen, along with himself in this
New Year. 2005 promises to be an eventful one
for Spencer. “Hope to see you when I take
to the road” (as soon as he can get a promoter
to trust. heheheheh) "Please come and see
me and give me that “Christian Hug”
that I’m so famous for." (Two Can Play
That Game).
My
goodness. Dad’s at it again. I swear he
don’t ever stop working. It even amazes
me sometimes. Oh yeah, what’s up? The sky
I hope. Well anyway, I am here to report news
about my undeniably crazy daddy. If you don’t
know already, he is an actor/comedian that goes
by the name of “Spencer.” You may
have recognized him doing stand up on the new
season of BET’s, “Comicview.”
And you could have seen him that show the year
before and the year before that and the year before
that….dang he should be a host by now. Most
recognize him for the church scene where he plays
his role as “Trent,” the guy Vivica
A. Fox uses to make Morris Chestnut jealous, in
the movie “Two Can Play That Game.”
My daddy did a fine job bringing that character
to life, but if you would have given him 30 mo’
seconds, shoot….he’d be winnin’
the Oscar for best male actor in a black movie.
2004
just hit and my daddy already got stuff lined
up for him. He’s a smart man, he hooked
up the top baller of the music industry, ruler
of the south, from the New No Limit Co., Master
P. this man has helped a lot of comedians gain
a major name and to me it seems as if, my dad
is his next project.
P’
as he likes to be referred to, has already made
another one of his hood movies. Along with, Mike
Epps, Silk The Shocker and Wanda Sykes, “Spencer,”
my father, was asked to play a pimp in the low
budget film titled, “Still Bout’ It,”
I don’t know if it’s just me, but
with all the money “P” makes, I would
think the term, “low budget”, wouldn’t
even be in that man’s vocabulary. Picture
this, the Bishop Don Juan riding a bicycle through
the hood with 1 ho, that ladies and gentlemen,
IS MY DADDY!! Well, only in that movie of course.
In order to get a better feel for the role, he
refused to wear make-up, stayed lookin’
ugly, in fact, he wanted to look busted.
Now,
my dad is going to be on Nickelodeon’s “Romeo.”
Once again, Spencer and “P” pair up
as two country boys. My dad acts as fool in this
role. (airs Jan. 19th)
On
Jan. 14th you can watch my dad and the entire
New No Limit crew on BET’s Access Granted
for a behind the scenes showing of the music video
for the song, “What you got in dem Jeans.”
(the video will also be shown on MTV.) The song
is featured on P’s new album, “The
Good Side and The Bad Side,” which is in
the process of a complimentary movie when you
purchase the album. P is working my dad, now I’m
not allowed to tell all of ya’ll what the
plans are, but whatever it is, its going to be
off the hook and Spencer will work hard to please
all the fans.
Look
for my daddy in the movie “Superspy.”
He looks really different in this one because
his hair is super short and yo boy’s mustache
is pretty thin, but with that big ol’ smile
he gave to my sister and I, you will definitely
recognize him. In this he plays a want to be producer,
named “Slick Mango,” who helps his
new partner make a ghetto version of James Bond.
You know, they had to name it Jimmy Bond, that
way there’s no law suits or anything like
that. It’s a very funny movie that my dad
co-stars in. It will be released on DVD and VHS
in April. Anytime before then, it will be shown
at many film festivals (Atlanta Jan 21 2004) and
in Los Angeles on the big screen.
My
daddy is unstoppable. He’s looking to do
all he can and trust me he can do everything.
He loves acting and doing stand up. He’s
a very smart man when it comes to acting. He can
play any role you want him to, he aint in the
business to get typecast, you feel me???
